Contemporary City Patio Decking
The owners were looking to revitalise their tired city garden, into a modern sanctuary fit for the whole family. Mindful of their busy lifestyle, the family were looking for a design that fits their modern personal style but would require minimal upkeep, allowing them to spend their free time enjoying the space.
The Problem
The garden had begun to look tired, and the current layout was no longer working for the young family. The existing lawn dominated too much of the garden space, the timber deck near the kitchen was showing signs of instability, and the suntrap at the end of the garden was overgrown and barely used. Unsure where to begin, the owners reached out to garden designer Katerina for assistance in devising the ideal low-maintenance elegant design, that the whole family would enjoy.
The Solution
Katerina crafted a refined family garden design, which utilised the space to create distinct easy to maintain zones. Replacing the tired timber deck by the kitchen door with a sleek paved patio and introducing a brick flower bed along the small but perfectly sized lawn with colourful native planting. The highlight of the design was turning the under utilised sun spot at the end of the garden into an inviting entertainment and children's play area.
Katerina selected EnviroBuild silver birch composite decking to create a stunning decking areas with a wooden pergola, ideal for family barbecues and sun-soaked gatherings. Leading to a adjacent vibrant kids' play zone made from complementary geometric pavers. The non slip properties of the decking make it perfect surface for playing children and unlike the previous timber deck, they won't need to worry about treating or staining it, allowing them more time to enjoy the space as a family.
