Townhouse Garden Decking
Katerina was tasked with creating a contemporary, low maintenance holiday-inspired outdoor space, that seamlessly connects the interior of the home and the garden to create a cohesive living space the family can enjoy in warmer months.
Project Breakdown
The garden was severely overgrown, with unruly foliage and distressed grass that had deteriorated after recent renovations. The space felt uninviting and overwhelming for the client to maintain. Seeking a transformation, they contacted Katerain to design a low-maintenance, elegant garden inspired by a holidays in the Mediterranean. Katerain’s plan included easy-to-care-for hardy plants and the creation of distinct, unique zones to enhance the garden’s appeal and make it feel more spacious and welcoming.
The Solution
Katerina revitalized the garden with neutral paving and raised beds filled with hardy, colourful shrubs, ferns, grasses, and acers. A large L-shaped teak floating bench, crafted from composite decking, serves as a striking yet inviting year-round focal point, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the garden, while maximizing seating. This bench blends seamlessly with the rich wood tones in the kitchen, achieving the desired indoor-outdoor feel.
Large French sliding doors open onto the paving and floating bench, while an angular pathway of handmade clay bricks and porcelain paving connects the patio to the gazebo, adding definition and interest. Warm, subtle lighting ties the kitchen and garden together, creating two distinct seating areas and transforming the garden into a low-maintenance haven.
